The world’s largest study of the impact of dietary polyphenol intake on the risk of cardiometabolic problems tracked more than 6,000 Brazilians for eight years. Compound can be found on fruit, coffee, chocolate and wine.

By creating a new metric, researchers envision the possibility of diagnostic and treatment advances for the disease, which is estimated to affect about 4 million people worldwide.

Up to five RIDCs will be created in the areas of Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary. Research in the Science for Development Centers should promote the advancement of knowledge and evidence expected improvements in public policies.
